Frequently Asked Questions

The Information Management Office (IMO) was established in 1999. The office's goal is to create and maintain an infrastructure that will allow county departments, county employees and the general public to share and to store information digitally. The office has the two main focuses: GIS Program and Network Technologies.

GIS Program
Roughly 75% of all information generated or stored by a county government can be geographically referenced by street address, parcel identification number or some other location attribute.

The central goal of the GIS Program is to develop an enterprise system that will allow DeKalb County Government to improve its function by enabling access to spatial information. The County wide base map and property information are available via the County’s intranet as well as the County’s internet site. County departments and the public can benefit from GIS and the integrating framework that location-based information provides.

Network Technologies

The Information Management Office supports the county’s WAN (wide area network). IMO assists departments with hardware and software issues as well as systems implementation.
