Wee Naturalists
1st Saturday of each month from October - May.
Each program features a different nature theme a $3.00 fee helps cover
materials.
The natural resources staff of the
University of Illinois Extension is again offering the Wee Naturalist
program, an opportunity for children ages 4-7 to learn about their natural
environment through hands-on learning and activities.
The group meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. the first
Saturday of each month and ends with the May session.
The cost is $3.00 per child per session; no
reservation is required. This year's topics
include mammals, reptiles, insects and birds.
In addition, there will be special sessions on
winter and nature's magic. This is a great
opportunity for adults to learn with their child while having lots of fun.
Wee Nats meets in the Natural Resource
Center in Russell Woods Forest Preserve, one mile west of Genoa on Route 72.
At the Dec. 4 Wee Naturalist program, participants
will investigate Illinois mammals, learn about many mammals and find out which
ones are predators and which ones are lunch.
