E-911 |
The DeKalb County Emergency Telephone System
Board was organized in early 1990 to oversee the implementation of an
enhanced 911 system in DeKalb County, Illinois. 911 is a three-digit
telephone number that you can dial 24 hours a day for police, fire or
emergency medical services emergencies. The system is operational,
and DeKalb County citizens can now dial 911 and be connected to the
emergency service provider in their area. The dispatch points know
instantly where the call is coming from and the name of the person living
at that location. 911 systems nationwide have assisted police, fire
and ambulance personnel in improving service to the public. Special
instructions for the Hearing Impaired for use of 911 are available.
